Showcase site or e-commerce: which one does your business need?
Published 25 October 2026 · 4 min
Many businesses in Morocco pay for an online store when they needed a showcase site — or the opposite. Here is how to tell the difference before you spend a dirham.

The one-sentence difference
A showcase site presents your business and brings you contacts. An e-commerce site sells directly: the visitor pays on the site, without talking to you.
Everything else — price, delay, maintenance — follows from that single difference.
What each one really costs
The gap is large because the work behind it is large.
- Showcase site: 4 900 – 12 000 DH, delivered in 2–3 weeks
- Bilingual showcase site with SEO: 12 000 – 20 000 DH
- E-commerce: 15 000 – 40 000 DH, delivered in 4–8 weeks
Why e-commerce costs more
An online store is not a showcase site with a buy button. It adds:
- Online payment (CMI, PayPal or Cash Plus integration)
- Stock, delivery zones and order management
- Customer accounts and order emails
- Legal pages: terms of sale, returns, privacy
- Daily work afterwards: products, photos, promotions, support
The question that decides
Ask yourself: will my customer pay online without ever calling or messaging me? If yes — e-commerce. If your customer wants to ask a question, negotiate, or book a visit first — a showcase site with a good contact form and WhatsApp button will sell more, for a third of the price.
Restaurants, clinics, agencies, artisans and most services in Morocco sell better with a showcase site. Shops with standard products and fixed prices sell better with e-commerce.
The smart path
If you are not sure, start with a showcase site that presents your products and collects orders by form or WhatsApp. When orders become daily and repetitive, upgrade to real e-commerce — you will know exactly which features you need because your customers already asked for them.
